Graph: Green Century Comes out On Top of Other Mutual Fund Groups in Support of Climate Change

July 23, 2012—How does Green Century’s proxy voting record in support of issues related to climate change compare with that of other mutual fund companies? See below:

Every year, investors—and mutual funds, which represent the pooled investment money of thousands of smaller investors – vote on a number of social, environmental and governance issues at the annual meetings of the companies they own. Ceres – a network of investors, companies and public interest groups dedicated to expanding sustainable business practices – recently released a report ranking the voting records of leading U.S. mutual fund companies on their support for climate change resolutions on company ballots in 2011. As the graph indicates, market leaders Vanguard, Fidelity and American Funds finished near or at the bottom, while Green Century voted in favor of 100% of resolutions addressing climate change mitigation and impacts.”

Green Century consistently supports resolutions related to the environment at the companies its mutual funds own. Green Century does so not only to act on the values of its Funds’ investors, but because managing environmental risks is a critical component of its strategy to seek long-term total returns.
