Gigi Norcross: Some things come full circle.

I recently had the opportunity to attend the Episcopal Parish Network’s (EPN) annual conference in Jacksonville, Fla. The EPN works to empower local ministries to address economic uncertainty, persistent racial inequalities, unprecedented health challenges, and disruptive climate change. Green Century° was a sponsor of this event.

My dad, the Rev. Stephen Norcross, was ordained in 1969. His first assignment upon ordination was to baptize me. Here we are on that momentous day!.

I grew up in the Episcopalian church, and from that background, I learned values that have guided my life’s actions. My career choices have been motivated by a dedication to align my concerns for this planet with the hours that I spend in my daily work life.

I joined Green Century° because I thought that the firm’s approach to shareholder advocacy was the best in business and offered a path towards generating an immediate positive impact on the planet. I wanted to put more effort into creating lasting environmental solutions.

I met many people over three days in Jacksonville, Fla., by hosting a table at the EPN conference. Here I am with the Rev. Peggy Lo of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Austin,Tex.

In these four years, I’ve seen some incredible policy changes embraced by companies as a result of our engagement with them. You can see a sampling of some recent key wins here.

My work with Green Century° has taken me to some unusual places, including to last week’s conference. As I talked with parish leadership from around the country, I recalled that the desire to act as good stewards of the Earth puts people from different perspectives in the same room.  The event reinforced that there is plenty of common ground when people act to protect the environment.  That motivates me to keep charging ahead.

Warmly, Gigi
